City site comments to close

Posted on: 31 March 2009 at 1151 - Comment

Activity on the Twestival city sites has reduced dramatically since the events were held on 12 February 2009 across the world.

Since then the entire site has, inevitably, become the subject of spammers.

Therefore it’s planned to close all new comments on city site posts after 1000 GMT on Wednesday 15 April 2009.

If, exceptionally, city site admins want to continue comments on their site after this time, send me a message.

Cool - I’m deleting around 40/50 spam comments a day!! So, the sooner the better as far as I’m concerned :)

I’m not getting that many spam comments, but I can understand why this needs to be done.

This is an old post, comments were re-enabled before Twestival local took place. We never really used this dev blog so I just left it up for past reference.

Also yes the most common one is Akismet, which comes with a default Wordpress installation, and it is on for all blogs be default so it should be filtering most of your spam comments as it does a pretty respectable job.

    Thanks
    Tom
